Nobody uses 100 percent of their potential – we all have room to grow. profilingvalues helps people, teams and organizations recognize and unfold their potential precisely.
People decisions are among the most consequential decisions an organization can make. That is why we believe diagnostics must do justice to people while also enabling reliable decision-making.
Our goal is not to classify people as quickly as possible – but to understand them as precisely as possible.
How a fascination with the mathematics of values became a diagnostic system for consultants, coaches and HR professionals.
After around ten years in management consulting with a focus on HR, Uli goes independent. Three months later, Lehman Brothers collapses.
Robert S. Hartman’s mathematics of values fascinates Uli so much that he founds profilingvalues. The goal: to translate Hartman’s methodology into modern applications for staffing and people development.
The first office is in the attic of a farmhouse at the northern edge of the Alps – not a garage start-up but an attic one. The twins have just been born, so feedback sessions take place in the car. There is never the right season for it: either too cold or too hot.
In 2009, Uli attends the annual conference of the Robert S. Hartman Institute in Knoxville, Tennessee, for the first time; in 2010 he gives his own talk there. Board membership follows, as does the founding of the European branch and its first presidency.
After three years as a one-man show, profilingvalues moves into offices in Munich. A team forms, including many highly motivated students with whom Uli is still in touch today. In the same year, the community meets for the first profilingvalues congress – with inspiring guests and talks. Over the years, profilingvalues hosts eight congresses in total.
In the following years, new formats emerge one by one: the Leadership Excellence Report with the Grundl Leadership Institute, Balance Report, Sales Report, Team Overview and Team Roles Tool. Several hundred soon become more than 1,000 certified practitioners.
The pandemic is not an easy time. But it provides the impetus to make training and collaboration consistently hybrid.
Launch of our podcast, today also available in English as “The Value Impulse”, in which profilingvalues often plays an important role. “Key Factor Value-Based Leadership” is published, and Uli brings Hartman’s famous autobiography “Freedom to Live” to German readers with his translation.
“PROFILING VALUES – The Value-Based Model for Human Development” and “The Value Impulse, Volume 1”.
A modern learning platform with substantial AI assistance, a vibrant community and a growing number of companies working with profilingvalues.
Founder and Managing Director
Uli studied political science, economics and public law and spent seven years at university working on international relations. He then moved to a global management consultancy, where the focus was on how well people and roles fit together – through personality rather than CV.
Since 2009, he has been building profilingvalues and training consultants, coaches and HR professionals. He is the author of several books and host of the podcast “The Value Impulse”.
As a consultant, Uli has personally supported companies for over 25 years – with more than 5,000 assessments and potential analyses, in staffing, leadership development and when teams need to work better together.

Five values have guided us since our founding – in every conversation, every report and every training.
Every person is unique – with a one-of-a-kind combination of abilities and talents. We give our all so that people recognize this and find their place in working life.
Anyone who opens up in a conversation entrusts us with a lot. We create a protected space in which people feel taken seriously and safe from the very first moment.
We paint a crystal-clear picture of what a person has to offer. That helps to understand the present and make the right decisions – in selection and development.
Talking about one’s own self often touches the innermost core. Our standard: to be sensitive, appreciative and clear – and to keep developing this competence.
With Hartman’s mathematics of values, we use highly precise instruments and analyze carefully. This gives impressions and intuition a solid foundation.
Robert S. Hartman is the pioneer of the formal science of values. His ideas were revolutionary in his time. They are more current and relevant than ever.
“Companies exist for people, not the other way round.”
Let’s talk about how profilingvalues can take your work with people to a new level.
